6 observations on men and women internet use

1. The percentage of women using the internet is lower than the percentage of men. Women under 30 and black women are on the internet more than their male peers. However, older women trail by a lot to older men.

- I think these statements are true because, women are a lot more busy than men. And from what I have observed women arent as lazy as men.

2. Men are more intense internet users than women. Men spend more time online, and are more likely to be broadband users.

- I think that work can attribute to these statements. A lot of men sit on computers all day for work.

3. In most subjects of internet activity, more men than women are involved, but women are catching up.

- Because men spend more time on the internet.

4. More online men than women perform online transactions.

- Because men are lazy and dont want to go to the store.

5. Men are more avid consumers than women of online information. Men look for information on a wider variety of topics and issues than women do.

- I think this is true because some women just dont care.

6. Men are more likely than women to use the internet as a destination for recreation

- Men play games, women get stuff done.

3 types of Bridging websites, maybe

AIM -- Chatrooms on AIM can bring people together to talk about different topics. People might not be interested in a subject but then join a chatroom because their friend asked them too and by the end of the chatroom, maybe they are now interested.

Facebook -- Is a form of bridging for the same exact reason I said it is a form of bonding. Facebook takes a bunch of people and can get them interested in something they didnt care about before, like farming.

Dating -- They take a bunch of different people and find their similarities to make them become a couple, i think.

3 examples of Bonding websites ( I think )

Facebook -- There are a lot of things on facebook that groups like to do together. For instance, I know my girlfriend just started doing something on facebook called farmville and she has many other people "farming" with her.

Sports -- Most people that go to a particular sports teams webpage are fans of that team.

Blogging -- Brings people together to talk to each other about usually one specific topic.

FCC Internet Neutrality

The chairman of the FCC, Julius Genachowski wants to make the internet a neutral place for web companies. He wants to do this by making those web companies show how they organize their networks to proove they arent helping out certain providers get content quicker. Companies like AT & T and Verizon are not in favor of the chairman's idea, because it will clog up the networks.

Pretty much, hopefully, on Monday the FCC will be banning companies from charging more money for better, faster internet connections.

I think that there should be a standard speed of the interent and it should be the fastest there is. No one deserves to sit and wait five minutes for a page to load, that sucks.

2 - Oceania and Australia are still in the dark ages. The two regions combine for only 20.8 million peeps on the internet, the smallest amount in the world.

3rd - 73.9% of North America is penetrated, ( by the interenet ).

Quatro - The middle east has a growth rate of 1,360.2%.
